What Version Do You Prefer?

I have noticed too that there are different versions of what happened when the Tenchi gang met eachother and their histories and so on. I might as well point out some of the differences:

In the OVA and Tenchi in Tokyo all the girls fell in love with Tenchi, but it seemed that in the Tenchi Universe only Ryoko and Ayeka were after Tenchi.In the OVA it also explains to us that Washu is Ryoko's mother, in Tokyo the only relationship is that Ryoko hired her for some pirate job or something. Whereas in Universe Washu was the demon at Rashomon instead of Ryoko who was the demon in the OVA. Oh yeah Tsunami(my favourite character) is only in the OVA, Tsunami is the greatest Jurain ship merged with Sasami(looks like adult Sasami). A character who is only in Tenchi Universe is Nagi and her cabbit. One of the most important elements only shown in the OVA is Tenchi's Lighthawk Wing Sword...It just was different seeing him without it in Universe and Tokyo...

Can anyone think of any other differences and why the creators decided to change each one? were they experimenting or something, or was it a different director for each one?

now to the real question : what version do you prefer?

for myself, I'd have to say the OVA because it seems to make the most sense, such as Ryoko being the Demon at Rashomon and Washu being her mother and all, and the Light Hawk Wing Sword.

Tenchi in Tokyo is the funniest though, I especially liked the episode with the big purple monster and the minions of Washu that were sending around false info about Tenchi.

I prefer the OVA version; it seems to have the most exciting action and storylines. I'm anxiously awaiting seeing a resolution to the mysteries presented in the second OVA series sometime in the next five years. ;-)

I believe the true and best version is the OVA as well. Love the climaxes..the surprises.. just very well done.
The others series are well done and funny too, esp. T in T, but for me they don;t stand up to the OVA

Only saw the first bit of Universe, but I'll go against the flow and say Tenchi in Tokyo...it was my original delve into the Tenchi world, and just like the way the whole story clicks together...and of course, I'm a real comedic fan...

My favorite? OAVs, hands down. Universe had it's own appeal, and Shin Tenchi Muyo (what most of ya'll know as tenchi in tokyo) was a little too absurd. Somehow the story in the OAVs just captivates me more, maybe because it's unfinished...

Yess the OAV original is the best

But tha doesnt mean the others are bad. I havnt seen tokyo BUT i do luv universe because of kiyone and mohoshi. But the OAV had better villians and better plots and the parents put me in stitches. But u gotta admit Yousho is at his best in Universe

I like Tokyo best myself, but I'm not too picky. It's all good from my perspective.

I never got ny of them i recorded all the OVA i have off toonami so i'll end up buying them all over again just to see the unedited (but tha will be distant into the future only enough money for the films at mo)


On other notes about the series (THEY ALL ROCK BTW)

-In the OVA U clearly get told in episode 5 tha tenchi was alive when his grandma died

-Yet (i might have this wrong) in the film (first one) You get told his grandma died before Acheka was even married.

Is tha because the movie is based on the universe saga or i didnt listen right??

OAVs for me ...its just all a bit more mysterious , in the sense that it left a bit more to the imaginations , also the stregnth of the character interaction is just amazing in the oavs , and in the other Series its just never seemed as pronounced , but still excellent by any standard , that said im not speaking from a massive pool of knowlege Ive seen most of the OAVS and a fair bit of Tenchi Universe , nothing else
